These are great stingrays with plenty of personality. They are smaller than southern rays. They will follow and beg for food if conditioned for touch tanks. They respond well to personal attention and hand feeding. They will swarm and vie to be first in line at feeding time. Given their size, more rays can be fit into a single tank. If you ask for smaller specimens you will get the greater longevity as they will not outgrow your system.
These beautiful stingrays are popular aquarium stockers. They can grow from their birth size of 5-6 inches to over 4 FEET in wingspan. Cownose rays have smaller stingers and tend to be more docile if raised in captivity. Their mouths are crushing tooth plates rather than jaws like other rays. Their diets should be appropriately varied. Like Atlantics, they make great swimming rays for interactive ray tanks and swimming experiences. Their lives are enriched by human interaction.

These historic stingrays are the original large rays that were the staple of aquariums. They can grow from their birth size to over 8 FEET in wingspan (over 6' rare in captivity). Southern rays have some of the largest stingers and can be aggressive. They have thicker skin and are quite durable as a species, hence their being a staple.
They can get to a large size in captivity and adapt well to captive life with proper feeding and care. Stingers are removed prior to shipping. This species can tolerate hot water and thrives in warmer water.
